- Expanded agricultural land for cultivation.
- New crops and new technologies
- Food became of higher quality, and the supply became even more abundant, thus contributing greatly to the economy and population growth.
- Increased urbanization. The artisans and merchants flooding in to the cities developed small new towns that created more job and labor opportunities (one of the popular being textile production)—result: a sharp rise in manufacturing and trade expansion.
Estate System
- Three estates or classes that were unequal—politically, socially, and economically
- These estates consisted of: "Those who pray, those who fight, and those who work."
- Those who prayed could range anywhere from low priests to popes
- Those who fought were the knights that came from the high feudal noble rankings
- Both those in the religious and military estate received honors, rights, and privileges that were denied to the lowest estate
- The lowest estate, "those who work," was the largest class, and made up the majority of the population. They were peasants and serfs that cultivated land for their lords
